In 1947 a painting was donated to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. It depicted Jesus walking on the water, stretching his arm out over a boat full of sailors lost at sea. The Jesus in the picture had long, blond or light brown hair. It bothered me because I have never like paintings of Jesus. There are many renditions, none of which represent the real Jesus, and I consider them all to be idolatrous. In 2023, Joe Biden had the painting moved into the basement because of a complaint. Now, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is planning to bring it back to it's "rightful place." Sailors at the academy cheered the decision. I have long detested statues, religious pictures, crucifixes etc., to all be idolatrous. After reading the article about the painting, I commented on it and said it's not the real Jesus, and it is idolatrous. I expected to get berated for my comment, and I was.
